Bolikhamxay Province

Bolikhamxay Province is located in the middle of the country.It was formed in 1983 from parts of the Vientiane Province and Khammuan Province. In Khamkheuth district there is picturesque karst limestone scenery, which is allegedly the largest formation of its type in Southeast Asia. The province is also home to the Theun Hinboun Dam.

The capital city is Paksan. Its area is 14.863 Km2 and its population is 214.900 inhabitants with the density of 14 inhabitants/Km2.

In the North, It has border with Xieng Khouang Province, in the East it has border with Vietnam, in the South it has border with Khammouane Province and Thailand (separated by the Mekong River). It composes of 6 districts.
